OLE Rwanda

 

Open Learning Exchange Rwanda (OLE Rwanda) is an independent non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Kigali, Rwanda. It has a partnership with the Ministry of Education and is hosted in the ICTs department of the Ministry of Education. It was founded in June 2008 and is permanently registered with the Ministry of Justice. 

 

Mission: 

OLE Rwanda’s mission is to contribute to achieve Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Rwanda by 2015 mainly using Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), low cost technologies, innovative learning as well as open education resources (OER).    
 
Governance:  
OLE Rwanda is led by a full-time Executive Director and governed by an independent Rwandan-based Board of Directors that monitors and evaluates OLE Rwanda's programmes and activities, and works to strengthen its ties with partner institutions.  OLE Rwanda is also a member of the international network of Open Learning Exchange centers (OLE Centers). In Rwanda, OLE Rwanda is a member of the One Laptop Per Child Steering Committee and its Content Working Group. It is open to partners Schools, teachers, educationists willing to contribute to achieve the organization’s mission.                                                         
 

The Main Objectives of OLE Rwanda are to:                                  

  • Advocate for teaching and learning innovations that contribute to achieve quality Universal Basic Education by 2015.
  • Use Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) and low cost technologies to improve both access and quality of basic education in Rwanda. 
  • Participate interactively in stakeholders’ activities and projects whereas they compliment to the vision of OLE Rwanda.
  • Participate in the development and or localization of digital education resources and to avail them through the national billion kids’ digital library
